Description: This session is designed to help parents and caregivers support their young people through times of uncertainty, challenge, and trauma. Families will explore how to recognize the emotional and behavioral impact of trauma on youth, create environments of psychological safety, and respond with empathy, consistency, and care. Rooted in trauma-informed and healing-centered principles, this session emphasizes both relational and practical strategies to help young people feel seen, supported, and safe—especially when the world around them may not feel that way.
Objectives:
- Describe signs of stress and trauma in young people’s behavior and emotional responses
- Discuss trauma-informed approaches to foster safety, stability, and emotional regulation
- Practice strategies for co-regulation and supportive communication during challenging moments
