When you close your eyes and imagine the phrase, “soul care,” what comes to your mind? Visualizing an image or scenario in your mind is a powerful meditation and goal-setting tool that engages all of your senses. As you add details to your mind’s image, you can benefit from creative energy, lowered stress, and relaxation.

Here are a few steps to get started

  1. Ground yourself through focused breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. Close your eyes after getting into a comfortable position.
  2. Ask yourself: What does soul care mean to me?
  3. Let the image form:
    1. Where are you?
    2. What do you see?
    3. What do you feel physically or emotionally?
    4. What do you hear?
    5. What do you smell?
    6. Are you alone or with others? What are you or they doing?
    7. What do you believe about yourself or others in this moment?
  4. Be present in the imagery for a few moments while grounding yourself through focused breathing.
  5. When you are ready, open your eyes and express what you saw through speaking aloud, writing in your journal, or drawing the experience. Remember, you can return to this imagery or create another image whenever you need a moment to feel more connected spiritually.
