The Steve Fund Charity Team Will Fundraise for Mental Health Programs for Young People of Color
NEW YORK—The Steve Fund (TSF), one of the nation’s leading nonprofit organizations supporting the mental health and well-being of young people of color, today announced that the organization has been named one of 160 organizations selected for the 2024 Bank of America Boston Marathon Official Charity Program. The TSF Charity Team runners will raise valuable funds leading up to the 128th Boston Marathon, presented by Bank of America, on April 15, 2024.
This partnership provides TSF with a platform to raise crucial funds and shines a spotlight on TSF’s mission to revolutionize educational, organizational, and workplace environments. As TSF strides into the marathon, the organization carries the vision of a future where every young person of color experiences a supportive and nurturing mental health and emotional well-being ecosystem. TSF remains steadfast in building knowledge, fostering resilience, and championing lasting change for the communities it passionately serves.
“This is a tremendous honor that will help The Steve Fund further highlight our mission and underscore the collective commitment to the mental health and well-being of young people of Color,” said David McGhee, CEO of The Steve Fund. “As we lace up for the Boston Marathon, we stride with purpose, knowing that every step and every dollar raised contributes to a brighter, healthier future for the communities we serve. Together, we envision a world where mental health is prioritized and supported for every young person of Color.”
The Bank of America Boston Marathon Official Charity Program provides invitational entries into the Boston Marathon to select non-profit organizations. In 2023, athletes fundraising in the Boston Marathon raised a record $40.3 million, and since the charity program’s inception in 1989, more than $500.2 million has been fundraised.
“In partnering with Bank of America, we’re committed to taking steps together to elevate the Boston Marathon Official Charity Program to new heights,” said Jack Fleming, Chief Executive Officer and President of the B.A.A. “Philanthropy and community have long been two cornerstones of our event, and charity program. We’re enthusiastically cheering on participants as their fundraising and training journeys begin for April’s race.”
Applications for The Steve Fund’s Official 2024 Charity Team are now being accepted here. TSF’s Charity Team members will actively fundraise to support and expand TSF’s initiatives to promote mental health and well-being among young people of color. By participating in the marathon, TSF seeks to raise awareness and vital funds to further its mission of transforming educational, organizational, and workplace environments to create a more supportive and inclusive landscape for the mental health of young people of color.
